Kidney disease and how to prevent it

Kidney2 300x203 Kidney disease and how to prevent itKidneys are the final buffer for the body to keep its acid and alkaline conditions in balance. Kidney disease, when you finally discover it, has likely been present for many, many years.

On that first trip to the bathroom in the morning is your urine a dark yellow with a pungent ammonia smell? If so, this is a clue you must pay attention to.

Even though you’ve gone all night without going to the bathroom, the body continues to clean toxins out of your system. All your organs, especially your kidneys, work hard to keep you functioning automatically during the night. And because you have had little if any fluid, hydrating well immediately upon awakening is one of the most important things you can do to improve your overall health. The reason, your organs, muscles and tissues have become dehydrated and your kidneys have been doing the heavy lifting in toxin removal.

Located to the back of the abdomen, the kidneys are a pair of organs you simply cannot live without. It’s hard to imagine, but all the blood in our body goes through the kidneys many times a day filtering the blood and creating urine. This is the waste product of the work they do around the clock regulating fluid volume, composition of minerals and acidity as they excrete and reabsorb water and inorganic electrolytes. It’s a complex regulatory system that contributes to the balance of sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, sulfate, phosphate and hydrogen within the body. It is also the system that maintains the normal concentrations in the extracellular fluids.

Bicarbonate is the chemical or buffer in the blood that keeps its pH from becoming too acidic or too alkaline. Blood pH is not to be confused with interstitial fluid pH. Blood pH must always remain constant within a very small pH range of neutral leaning to the alkaline side of the scale. Contrary to interstitial fluid pH, you can find yourself very sick, in the hospital and people watching over you intensely if blood pH ever gets severely off balance. In its work to maintain this delicate balance, the blood draws from all other organs, in particular the bones, should your nutrition and hydration not provide adequate buffers.

On the other hand, interstitial fluid pH does fluctuate and hydration with good electrolyzed ionized water keeps it within a more alkaline leaning range.

Ingestion or production of high acid in the body presents a significant stressor for the kidneys. With acid comes a greater challenge for the body to regulate pH. The pH imbalance in the interstitial fluids can lead to a loss of as much as 90% of kidney function without ever experiencing any symptoms or problems. This is why water is crucial to the health of your kidneys. In addition, there is a recent discovery that adds to the importance of and goes beyond alkaline water by seeking out defective cells and deciding it would need repair or replacing of the bad cells with new ones. This component is called redox signaling molecules. The two components combined, water and these powerful signaling molecules, form a partnership for strong kidneys. Since kidney disease nearly always is in advanced stages before it is discovered, utilizing both of these protocols can virtually insure the opportunity of healthy kidneys especially if there is concern.
